Swimming teaching and water safety courses at Bramley Baths

Following the success of the swimming teaching and water safety courses which ran at Bramley Baths in January, we are running more courses in the near future.

Courses include:

STA Award in Swimming Teaching (Level ONE) = £300

Monday 23rd July to Thursday 26th July: 9am – 5pm

The first step in a swimming teaching career, for teaching a class of 12 participants from non-swimmers up to improvers (children and adults). They may also act as an assistant swimming teacher and can teach larger classes or advanced skills under the direct supervision of a swimming teacher qualified to certificate level.

STA Safety Award for Teachers = £90

Friday 27th July: 9am – 5pm

The STA Safety Award for Teachers is an essential pre-requisite for holding the above STA Award in Swimming Teaching qualification. The course covers competence in pool rescue, first aid, adult, child and infant CPR techniques. Holders will be competent to deal with poolside emergencies in accordance with the HSE publication Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools and British Standard BS EN 15288 Part 2, Safety Requirements for Operations.

Please follow this link for more information.

Holders of the Safety Award for Teachers are capable in pool rescue, first aid, adult, child and infant CPR techniques. While this is a separate course to the above STA Award in Swimming Teaching qualification, we strongly advise participants to take both because they are closely linked.

However, taking this course on a stand-alone basis is also possible, and we would recommend this qualification to yourselves as a means to help improve safety around water. Candidates who hold an up to date NPLQ are not required to take this qualification.

STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming (Level TWO) = £300

Tuesday 4th September to Friday 7th September: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

The STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming will expand expertise to teach competitive strokes, survival and rescue skills, diving, competitive starts and turns; allowing for the teaching of non-swimmers through to advanced participants.
